Paper Video is an edtech social enterprise with an audacious goal: the creation and distribution of quality education resources that allow every student in South Africa to gain instant access to excellent teachers.
Who We Are
Paper Video is a team of experienced South African teachers who use innovation and technology to dramatically increase the reach of their lessons. Founded by Chris Mills and Paul Maree in June 2014, the initiative received seed funding from the Millenium Trust and went on to release their first set of resources (353 exam questions and solution videos for Grade 12 Mathematics) in September 2014. In the two months preceding the 2014 NSC final exams, Paper Video amassed over 2 000 online users and 37 000 video views. With the subsequent demand for more grades and subjects expressed by students across the country, Paper Video went on to expand dramatically and now caters for Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences and Accounting from Grade 8 to 12.
Resources For All
It is an unacceptable thought to Paper Video that South African students could be excluded from using our resources for financial reasons. Hence, we have made over 1 250 exam questions and solution videos free to access, forever. Furthermore, we have partnered with the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) to make it possible for companies to donate towards the sponsorship of our resources for students who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
Having created South Africa's biggest collection of education videos, we will endeavour to expand our resources to include more grades, subjects and languages of tuition. We will also continue innovating in the edtech space to ensure that no student will be left behind, irrespective of the infrastructure and resources available to them. With continued collaboration with our partners (ASSA), corporate South Africa and government, we will not stop until every student in the country can gain instant and easy access to excellent teachers.
